What is w.page?

w.page is a non-profit initiative by eMedia Foundation. Our mission is "Reduce the Printed Page". We help newspapers, publishers, and individuals transition to digital with free, premium short links — no ads, no backlinks, no hidden costs.

Is w.page really free? Any hidden costs?

100% free. Forever. No credit card required. No ads. No backlinks. We are funded entirely by eMedia Foundation — a non-profit organization. This is our social and environmental responsibility project.

Can I use my own custom domain?

Yes, you can connect your own domain. But you can also use our premium single-letter domains — w.page, 3.sv, a.sv, z.pn, z.cg, infos.id — valued at over $25,000, available to publishers completely free. No other URL shortener offers this.

What makes w.page different from other URL shorteners?

We are the only non-profit, climate-positive URL shortener in the world. Every link created helps measure and reduce paper consumption. We provide environmental impact analytics: trees saved, water preserved, COâ‚‚ reduced. We exist for the planet, not profit.

Do you offer bulk URL shortening for newspapers?

Yes. We support Excel/CSV bulk upload. Perfect for daily newspaper editions, multiple headlines, section links, and archive migration. Contact us for newspaper partnerships and dedicated support.

What analytics do you provide?

Real-time click tracking, geographic distribution, device breakdown (desktop, mobile, tablet), browser statistics, referrer data, and — uniquely — environmental impact metrics. See how many trees, liters of water, and kg of CO₂ your digital transition has saved.

How do you calculate environmental impact?

Based on industry standards (Environmental Paper Network, WWF, Water Footprint Network): 1 short URL ≈ 15 printed pages saved ≈ 0.0001 trees ≈ 150 liters water ≈ 2.5 kg CO₂. Your dashboard shows your real impact.

Is there an API available?

Yes, our REST API allows you to create, manage, and track links programmatically. Perfect for newsrooms automating daily editions. View API documentation →

How secure are my links?

All links are served over HTTPS. We offer optional password protection, expiration dates, and abuse reporting. Screenshots are stored as base64 encrypted — no direct file access. Your data is never sold.

Do you offer QR codes?

Yes. Every short URL automatically generates a QR code — free, high-resolution, printable. Perfect for bridging print and digital editions.

What is your abuse policy?

We do not tolerate spam, phishing, malware, or illegal content. Report abuse at w.page/abuse. Violations result in immediate suspension and IP blocking. We protect reputable publishers.

Can newspapers become official partners?

Absolutely. We offer dedicated support, custom analytics, white-label options, and priority abuse handling for verified media organizations. Contact our partnerships team →

Is w.page open source?

Yes, w.page is fully open source. You can self-host, contribute, or audit our code. Transparency is part of our non-profit mission. View on GitHub →

Can I cancel anytime?

There is nothing to cancel — we are free. You can stop using w.page at any time. No contracts, no invoices, no questions. Just keep saving trees. 🌳
